Professional Career of the Founder, Mario Gibertoni

English Version

My corporate experience

My name is Mario Gibertoni and I am the founder of StudioBase.

I started my career in a historical company in Brescia, "Fiat OM", as an apprentice and a pupil in the local vocational training school. While I was working, I obtained my secondary school diploma ad my University degree.

I served in the Navy as an officer cadet in the Navy.

At the Livorno Naval Academy I learnt to study and to deal with colleagues, Institutions and higher-rank officers. My days were organized according to well-defined programs balancing study, sports and military life to maximize time and achievements. I am still constantly in touch with many friends from the naval academy, some of whom today are admirals. ( www.aucd62mm.com)

After the Navy, I went back to Fiat Iveco in my new capacity as Maintenance Team Leader and became acquainted with many principles that - after several years - I was to find again in Japan in their application according to the (Total Productive Maintenance) logic.

After I obtained my University degree in Economics, I was transferred to another Company of the Fiat Group (Glisenti Caster Spa, a foundry of which Fiat Teksid was a shareholder), at first as Work Safety Manager, then as Staff Manager.

That experience helped me to develop my awareness of the world of Associations; in this connection, within the Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria), I was to play a role at National level.

Finally, I made my first international experiences at "Beretta Armi" in Gardone Val Trompia, by taking on several tasks assigned to me by the President and Ceo.

My professional skills

In 1983 I founded StudioBase and started my Study-Tours: in America at the "Harvard" Business School in Boston to learn new theories and work methods to manage human resources and organize work, and in Japan, to discover Total Quality and the secrets of the productivity of Japanese companies.

I attended the Seminars of Masaaki Imai's Kaizen Institute, followed by Total Quality Management Courses at the prestigious Juse, (Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers) in Tokyo.

At Juse I had the opportunity to discuss and exchange my views and doubts about the applicability in Italy of the principles learnt in class with Japanese teachers: Ischikawa, Fukuda, Kondo, Kano, Kume, Miyauchi, Nogughi, etc.

I am very grateful to my friends from Juse and Kaizen Institute not only for the methods they have taught me but also for their commitment and serious approach to study and work alike.

After my Japanese experience I went to the US and, thanks to Tammy Thayier, who today is the Chairman of an important Business School, (University of Wisconsin-Madison, Executive Education School of Business), I was introduced to Deming.

Since 1991 I have been Senior Member of ASQ (American Society for Quality).

My training continued with the "Six Sigmas" thanks to the principles taught to me by Carl Vieth, a former manager in charge of such projects at General Electric, and Johannes Pfister, a friend of mine and Partner in the Company.

In Detroit, thanks to Victor Fey, a American friend of mine, I learnt the tenets of the "Triz" method.

I work as Management Consultant and Trainer for important Italian and Multinational Companies and Professional Associations; I have worked and I am currently working in Europe, Japan, US, Brazil, Chile and United Arab Emirates.

I also collaborate in my capacity of scientific expert and teacher with the Sole24Ore Business School, Italian Universities (Guido Carli Luiss Management-Rome) and friends foreign Universities (Madison Executive Education School of Business) and, thanks to my activities, I have received a number of awards.

I keep constantly updated thanks to study tours abroad to keep in touch with the "best in Class" activities within the sector.

My Experience with Professional Associations

Along with my professional activities, I have also become involved as a representative of Professional and Local Associations within the Confindustria Network.
In my capacity as representative, I was a member of the Local Industrial Association Councils of Brescia and Milan (Assolombarda).
Together with Alberto Galgano and Antonio Brunello, competitors with whom I share a great friendship, I founded Aicod (Italian Association of Consulting Companies) and Assoquality (Association of Quality Consulting Companies), and I was the Vice-President and President of both organizations.

I am still a member of the National Council of Assoconsult (Confindustria).
I think those experiences played a paramount role for my professional career through the constant exchange of views with highly qualified entrepreneurs and colleagues in the sector, who have always stimulated me to improve my know-how and search for new approaches.
